Built 1941 · hosting guests since the 1950s · over 300 feet of private river frontage.
Three cabins on a private bend of the river, cared for by a hands-on owner who'd rather you unplug than check in.
Since 1941
The cabins sit in the historic Riverside townsite, up Old Highway 7 where the Middle St. Vrain runs loud and clear over the rocks. They were built in 1941, and people have been coming to this stretch of the river since the 1950s: the same buildings, the same sound of the water, one generation handing it to the next.
2023
Andy took the place on in 2023. He remodeled the three cabins for real comfort (proper kitchens, heat, good beds) without sanding away what made them worth keeping: the log walls, the stone fireplaces, the river out every window. He runs the camp himself, hands-on, and guests say so in review after review. He's still at it, too: a new hot tub above the river, a rebuilt timber garage with a covered porch, and a fourth cabin joining the camp in 2027.
“The river and forest and wildlife and more, so peaceful and so beautiful. So many sweet touches and areas to relax.”— A guest from Colorado Springs
Locally made
Wander down to the fire pit and you'll find custom Adirondack chairs made from old skis and snowboards by a maker in Lyons, painted like the Colorado flag. Guests write about them. The camp's logo, a ski-slat “C” with a 7, comes from the ski-and-snowboard bench on The Ranch porch.
What's in a name
Old Seven. Riverside Drive was once Highway 7, the old road up to the Peak to Peak Highway, which connects Nederland, Allenspark and Estes Park. The camp sits right on it, and the 7 in our logo is a nod to it.
The Schaeffer. The 1941 log cabin carries the name of Schaeffer Holiday Cabins, as the camp was known in its early days.
The Ranch. Long, low and easygoing, it's what Andy has always called it.
The Riffle (rhymes with sniffle). A riffle is the stretch of fast, shallow water where a creek runs over rocks, and where trout like to feed. The Riffle sits right above one.
The Miller. Named for Miller Rock, the landmark rock across the road.
“Come back in autumn and check out the aspen trees…”— Andy
